Being of Service

One thing I love about our small community is that there are so many ways to get involved and contribute our time, talents and treasures for the betterment of each other.Last night I had the opportunity to visit with the Sechelt Rotary evening club, and I was impressed with what they are doing, here and around the world... right down to the way they do their pass-the-glass end of meeting collection, with a dollar or…See More

On Mowing

WHY CAN'T YOU BE A GOAT, HEY?We've got a .49 acre (half an acre, to y'all) half arrowhead lot in West Sechelt. It used to be a BC Hydro pole storage location, which accounts for the odd shape of the lot and why we're surrounded almost entirely by other people's backyards. While the obvious benefit is privacy, what I failed to…See More

A Heckuva Hike in Hidden Grove

Wow - if you want a GREAT walk in the woods with your furry friend(s), take a trip up Sechelt Inlet Road to Hidden Grove Park.I've hiked this park for about 6 years now and it just keeps getting better. One of the best examples of the right way to do trail signage on the Coast: at every. single. junction. a laminated map is posted with clear markings to show you where you are. At one point today, Diane and I thought we'd take a shortcut back to the lot, and I had this nagging suspicion that we…See More

Gibsons Grits: Go Wild, A Bistro on Wheels, and Views by the Halfshell

Man, oh man. I just got back from two weeks in France where we spent one week sightseeing in Paris, and the second week beach hopping in the French Mediterranean and then winding our way up through Provence.

I had heard for years about french food - the intricacies, the giant salads couples lingered over in sidewalk brasseries - and was fairly licking my lips to try it out when we departed in late June. I was travelling with my partner, Diane, who was 'conferencing' the first week,… Continue

Hi Laurie, Thanks again for a great start to my week. I am definitely excited to see where our collaborations take us! Let me know if there's any meetings etc I should attend/prepare for. I dropped into the Lighthouse meet up but didn't find the group somehow... not sure if I came to early.

Love this website Laurie. Loaded some blogs and photos and hope to make some Sunshine Coast friends while I can. Maybe some people I can toss back some beers down at the Lighthouse Pub next time I'm there.

Thanks Laurie... I'm just playing around with various themes to get a colour scheme that matches the store colours somewhat... thanks for giving us this opportunity to get the word out and tocommunicate with everyone on the coast and beyond. As always you're doing a such a great job... do you ever sleep?
