Hello Sunshine Coast
I live much of the year in a float cabin on Powell Lake. We discovered it in 2001 and knew it was where we wanted to live. You can read more about our "Sunshine Coast" adventures in my husband Wayne J. Lutz's Coastal BC Stories series of books at www.PowellRiverBooks.com.
The first book is Up the Lake and it tells how we gave up busy careers in Southern California and discovered a simpler way of life off the grid. It's been a journey back in time for me discovering things like kitchen gardening, canning, handwork, using a woodstove for heat and propane for lights. - I always hated leaving the Sunshine Coast to return to L.A. We might have better weather most of the time but we've also got the smog and crime. San Francisco is beautiful but not L.A.

- I am assuming your husband writes non-fiction. Did he ever try writing fiction? I think where you live would be a unique background for a work of fiction. Do you two ever get cabin fever? I mean do you ever go a bit crazy living out of a small cabin? I look at your photos and think if I had the right lady that would be the best place to live. How close are you to stores?

- And if you ever missed the big city you can always go to Vancouver. I think it would be so cool to have an airplane docked right by your cabin so you could explore so much of B.C. And landing in those placid waters would be easier than in the ocean. I don't think I could live there alone but if I ever was as lucky as you two and met the right lady I would love a cabin like yours and a life like you two have.Delete Comment

- Do you ever have problems with huge waves or exeptionally high tides flooding your cabin since it is so close to the water? Do either of you ever miss TV? I'll bet a great deal of fish is eaten when you live on the water like that. Mainly salmon?

I haven't been up there in two years and I used to go every year, always staying in Sechelt.
